This is based on content that was in the introduction to the Classic API
Guide
which dates back to at least 1992 since I can download one from then. Yes,
I think it should stay.

That may have been written while I was tracking people down and changing
the license on files as allowed.

For 7, we have already decided to remove some ports which are GPL+exception
based on technical factors. But if you find GPL code and know how to
contact that
person, help is appreciated. I worked my way through everyone I could. It
was
quite time consuming.
