I guess any change to the name is a good one. ChangeLog_pre_git is probably descriptive enough. Some other ideas I had were ChangeLog.cvs or maybe ChangeLog.old for a filename?

I think the git log is superior to manual ChangeLog entries, and we can produce higher level changes/news reports separately. Probably there is some way to either dump the log or selected entries when making a tar or offline distribution. This is something we can consider.

Hi,

my understanding is, that the information in the ChangeLogs (from our
CVS history) are not/not completely integrated into the GIT comments. So
they still maintain history information from pre-GIT times.

Your other question. I am sure there will be developers working without
GIT access. They should also have access to the history available in
GIT. We had that discussion when switching to GIT and I am not sure
about the results of that discussion (sorry).
