newlib 1.15.0 has this.  newlib 1.14 did not.

We won't be updating the tools for 4.6 so this will never be fixed there.

For 4.8, it will be fixed when we switch to newlib 1.15.

The question for Ralf is what I mentioned on PR 1207 -- do the 4.7 tools switch
to 1.15?
