This is a newlib request.  I see the issue but it is their decision.  Worst
case, the application would have to under log2 and log2f to get their own
implementation.  But it doesn't make it easy to do optimized routines in
assembly if that is possible on a target.

FWIW This is the same way in newlib 1.14 and newlib 1.15.

Johnny can you make this request on the newlib list and cc myself.
