Yes, because the product is an executable to be run on a target (Consider
building Solaris binaries on Linux and installing them to a network-mounted
file system, being accessible from both system).
I'd have to check the details, but all what you say sounds like yet another
incarnation of the old "Memshield" Windows/Cygwin bug, we have had years ago.
Windows/Cygwin (and seemingly MinGW) are not able to handle foreign binaries.
