Let me add:

To be able to use the current API, your code needs a variable of type
"MD5_CTX".

When a variable of this type is available, the size of the digest is implicitly
available, too.

Example:

#include <md5.h>
#include <stdio.h>

int main()
{
  MD5_CTX ctx;

  printf( "%zd\n", sizeof(ctx.digest) );
}
