I agree. We should allow handlers to be hooked onto the processing which can be
called when an error or a threshold is reached. A critical application could
attach a handler and manage or report the errors. This work should also define
error reporting from the drivers via the ioctl interface in a standard way.

I will apply the patch as is and mark this bug closed.
