And you and I had hacked on texi2www to add commands that texi2html already
had.

The entire situation is just not ideal. We were on a dead tool. texi2html is
not a perfect choice but it is the functional baseline the "target tool" of
texi2any will have.

This is a journey not a single step.

It predates the texinfo maintainer.. LOL

When this is committed, I will check makeinfo for its html output and impact on
source files

I will.. with your changes.. and check that it builds and installs both in and
outside tree.
