In this particular case it's the behavior associated with infinities, NaN,
denormalized, etc.  It uses simple-minded replacements that are usually
appropriate that will certainly break carefully crafted math codes and, I
think, ideal models that work fine with IEEE can break and need to be
revisited.

Agreed.  It shouldn't hold up proceeding on adding it to the CVS tree.
