What do you mean with "eat-or-die fashion"?

The e200 and e500 embedded floating point unit is a hardware floating point
unit.  Please have a look at "Signal Processing Engine (SPE)
Programming Environments Manual" Rev. 0 01/2008, section 3.3.1.4
"IEEE Std 754™ Compliance".
