It appears that gcc-4.8.0 unpatched runs into an internal compiler error when
compiling avr-libc.

Ran across the problem that RTEMS_CANONICAL_TARGET only works for *-*-rtems*
targets.

This is a very challenged port indeed... rolled back to gcc-4.7.2.  Not
patching that either.
