The problem is that the last line of the GCC configure is getting extended into
the first line of some bash script code. Try the attached patch. I don't know
if it is a good fix, but it is a work-around.  By changing the order of the
options in the gcc config to make the last line end with an explicit option
without the trailing \ causes the bug to go away for me.
