 Aha - thanks for the pointer!

 cpukit/posix/src/mutextranslatereturncode.c:26:
   EDEADLK,                /* CORE_MUTEX_STATUS_NESTING_NOT_ALLOWED */

 That'll be the one. I've gotta do some running around for the next hour or
 so, but I'll change that to:
   EBUSY,                  /* CORE_MUTEX_STATUS_NESTING_NOT_ALLOWED */

 and see if that sorts it.
