GitLab has a bot that uses an ML model to decide what labels to apply to issues.

I have been thinking of something similar but more detailed that includes commits and source changes so we can apply labels to both MRs and Issues.  This is more complex than what tanuk-stan does however we're not getting 50 new issues a day!

I don't think it will be too bad with our relatively low volume but that may present challenges in regards to training data.  It's worth a shot we are a small team whatever automation we can bring in only helps our goals.
