The OpenSSF has a guide on suggested compiler options:

* [https://github.com/ossf/wg-best-practices-os-developers/blob/main/docs/Compiler-Ha\[…\]ng-Guides/Compiler-Options-Hardening-Guide-for-C-and-C%2B%2B.md](https://github.com/ossf/wg-best-practices-os-developers/blob/main/docs/Compiler-Hardening-Guides/Compiler-Options-Hardening-Guide-for-C-and-C%2B%2B.md)

We should see what's useful for us and adopt it under a CI builder. Even if these aren't everyday options if we can build against them and permutate some builds we can get a report to how any warnings compare to current builds.
