Progress on tests so far is that I have 557 passing testcases out of 559 executed, and 55 are skipped. I've been updating the [issue](https://gitlab.rtems.org/l1zard/micropython/-/issues/1) linked above with more details.  

I have also started looking into how other ports implement threads.  

I have also written a [blog post](https://lzrd.codeberg.page/blog/gsoc-project-updates-progress-with-micropython-tests.html) covering this work.
