Yes. Many of the Makefiles just produced a test.exe while the waf produced a properly named exe. 

The gitignore.was needed because tests which use tar and a roots generate files which need to be compiled and removed.

Do you want me to improve the commit message?

Drop the warning fix into another commit and MR? I meant to leave warnings for a second pass.
