@joel I have used your test file `dl05.pre` and cloned the latest `rtems-tools`, built the repo on FreeBSD and then run:
```
$ PATH=/opt/work/rtems/7/bin:$PATH ./build/linkers/rtems-syms -vvv -e -w -S x.c -o x.o ../dl05.pre
RTEMS Kernel Symbols 7.978f060322a4-modified
kernel: ../dl05.pre
cache:load-sym: object files: 1
cache:load-sym: symbols: 1736
Filtered symbols: 1082
symbol C file: x.c
symbol O file: x.o
execute: i386-rtems7-gcc -O2 -c -o x.o x.c
execute: status: 0
```
This issue was raised with `m68k` so does `i386` cause the same warning on the default 7 tools?
