I actually considered using an even older version just to give it as a more extreme example. I think if someone wants to build a released version from source, they need to know where to get the released version, and where to get the correct documentation for that released version. We have a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem here. The documentation for how to build the development version eventually fits the released version made from that development version, using downloaded sources.

I took a look at !163 and I'll comment there about it.
