I am going to close this because this option is a bad feature and should be removed. It creates a hole in the versioning by giving the user a way to bypass the version of RTEMS to use with a release of RTEMS.

Specialized builds can be handled by holding the configuration files and build sets in a separate repo or directory you reference the RSB with. The `rtems-deployment` does this and provides an example.
