I think this is a fair compromise and request. If the license was changed to "BSD-2-Clause OR Apache-2.0 OR GPL-2.0-or-later OR CC-BY-SA-4.0" 

My understanding is that the license must be preserved as written under all projects, and that the projects have the option to take the code in under a particular grant. I don't know that we can even legally remove ANY of the license grants already written, especially if this particular code has been used in other projects.
