## Summary
<!--
Please provide as much information as possible such as error messages or attaching logs
-->
Several test failures were introduced from !871 at 69a9314281ed7cdc42f3454ac0bbdea000d8e5b0.
It would seem there are some paths that do not ensure that when a node is set off a chain its previous pointer is NULL. This needs to be chased down and fixed.
## Steps to reproduce
Run the tests with `ENABLE_SMP` and `ENABLE_RTEMS_DEBUG` and `ENABLE_TESTS`
