I believe this has been discussed before, but I can't find the discussion. My original suggestion was to provide a CONFIGURE_FILESYSTEM_USER that provided an entry at the end of the filesystem table, but this was not an ideal solution even though it works. IIRC, @chris suggested a linker section to collect filesystem entries.
