In addition to the `cmp` switch in start.S (step2), I had to comment out all the `efc_check` lines in `init_system.c:s570_system_hw_init` 

* When uncommented, `tms570_efc_check()`-\>`tms570_efc_stuck_zero()` causes the red ERR LED to light up, and then $pc jumps to 0x1c in flash.

I tried disabling interrupts with asm before the efc check (thinking the self-test was triggering an unhandled hardware interrupt), but that doesnt work. 

Does anyone have suggestions?
