We should introduce and test it now rather than later. Unless we are
close to cutting a new release, which I haven't heard anything.

What do you mean "non-rtems targets"? It looks like this just enables
use of a flag available in binutils while generating rtems' binutils.
Did I miss something?

I don't see the problem here.
