Looking at the source for SP0[1-7] the output is a mixture of printf() and puts(), no printk().

I think the console output for all eSCI based mpc55xxevb BSPS is under interrupt control, there isn't a specific option for console interrupt I/O and I set a breakpoint in mpc55xx_esci_poll_write() and didn't get any hits, while there are breaks in mpc55xx_esci_interrupt_handler().  TERMIOS interrupts is set to TERMIOS_IRQ_DRIVEN and as far as I can tell that's unconditionally set to 1, does console I/O go through termios?
