This is supposedly resolved (
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65779#c16 ) in
https://gcc.gnu.org/viewcvs?rev=232558&root=gcc&view=rev and included
in the latest GCC 6 20160124 snapshot (at r232780).
I didn't seem to run into the issue building tests for powerpc/psim
powerpc/mvme3100 pre-patch though, so can't currently confirm it's
sorted.
Patch attached to update the 4.12 RSB build set to this GCC snapshot.
