I would also like this as a real alternative. If the project turns out to
be done quickly, the user can work on the other side of the networking
equation. Long term, it is desirable to have ..

+ RTEMS without any networking
+ Choice of three stacks
+ Network servers and packages

This is a fair amount of packaging and RSB work. The current stack would
need to be extracted and put in its own repo with a build system.

So I they finish LWIP, this would be a good next step.
