RTEMS IP routes

Hi,
I am using RTEMS on a board which has an ethernet. Whenever I detect that physical ethernet is down (disconnected) I try to bring the interface down
with the ioctl call. It brings the interface down but does not remove the routes(network and arp)on that interface. I tried the same things on a
FreeBSD3.2 machine and it works. Has someone seen the problem, or has already fixed it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
