You almost certainly have an executable with debug information.
You need to strip it per the FAQ "Why is my executable so big?" at:

 http://www.oarcorp.com/rtemsdoc-4.5.0/rtemsdoc/html/FAQ/FAQ00062.html

If your executable is really 5MB stripped, I am curious what all
functionality you have. :)
