build/execute admin question

Hello,

I have the picodemo8.bin loading over the network using either
dhcpd or bootp, by using mknbi to alter picodemo8.bin. But I
cannot seem to get a simple hello test program into the
correct format. Should the hello.bt work (it does not seem to), or do I
need to do something else? mknbi complains when
I try to use it on any of the hello programs.
