link() fails?

Ok, sorry if this is as stupid question...  How do I select between
miniIMFS and IMFS?  I tried --enable-imfs during my configure session,
but apparently its a runtime thing?  I cannot find any info on
configuring IMFS in the online manual for 4.5.0
