what is the difference between pc386 and i386ex

I guess you can safely ignore i386ex, and only compile for pc386. 

its a bsp for Univ. Of Toronto and Intel Eval Board.
(i guess you would be having a normal pc386/486/586 for rtems)

you can read the file 
rtems-4.5.0/c/src/lib/libbsp/i386/i386ex/README
