What tools to new snapsh (was: console -- serial console)

I added that file to the snapshot/tarball process because I found it
difficult
to answer the question of what tools to use on random snapshots. RPMs
serve
multiple purposes on the RTEMS project, some of which are obvious:

  + easy binaries for many GNU/Linux x86 distributions
  + fairly painless way to build local tools on same distribution

but these are not so obvious:

  + tool configuration control 
    - captures known-good build procedure, source, and patches
  + ensures OAR internally uses same binaries as many users
  + reduces startup burden for some new users

Ralf explained this.  Consider the RPMs as documentation for what 
tool versions and patches were used to build the RTEMS tarball.

There were maintained BSD ports packages for the RTEMS tools at one
point
included in the standard collection.  You might want to check into them
and offer updates.

Hi all,
Do cd-working contents is the latest snapshot? Or it is equal current ?

I ask because in email of Joel Sherrill if I correctly remember
was that it is current but in other was mentioned about iso-image.
But iso of current?

Sorry for question, I am not sure what download: snapshot or
cd-working? I am newbie and dont know all this subtleties.
