As you know the last famous bug with gcc-3, was due to a conjunction of 
changes beween newlib and gcc-3. So when trying to hunt the bug (as 
nobody else voluntered) in order to avoid re-discover something already 
fixed, I switched to a more recent newlib and gcc via CVS. And BTW, I 
think that newlib has changed so much in a recent past that 1.11.0 is 
already old now.

I have seen some fixes on floating point problem incorporated for 
example and maybe you should consider giving a identified recent 
snapshot along with rtems...
