powerpc-rtems-gcc compiling problem

Hello,
I am using cygwin to compile my stuff on windows. I was using an old 1998
cygwin. Today I shifted to the latest cygwin and my compilation didn't work.
Then I tried to compile a Hello world file. That too didn't work(same
error). What could be the problem.
This is the error :-
******************
>powerpc-rtems-gcc -c hello.c
Assembler messages:
 for reading.open
: No such file or directory
************************
Seems like there is some misunderstanding between powerpc-rtems-gcc and the
powerpc rtems assembler.Normal gcc is working fine and compiles the hello
world without any problems.
regards
Dhiraj
