Hmm, veeeery cleeeever decision ;)

IIRC, using // inside of directory names explicitly is covered and
allowed by POSIX, but I don't recall if POSIX covers leading //.

Anyway, the cause which triggered this is fixed in CVS
(cpukit/wrapup/Makefile.am)
