unable to make install under cygwin

One of his problems is. :-) I was replying to his request for ticker 
built for pc386. As I said, "make install" works for me, but my sources 
are derived from a slightly older snapshot. I never see the 
double-slash. BTW, my /bin/sh seems to be ash (I don't know how to make 
it ID itself).
