Network Driver CS8900 will not answer on ping's

Hi 

I'm using the cs8900 Networkdiver (RTEMS Version 4.5, 4.6 ) with a PowerPC
MPC565 CPU.
If I test the driver with ping' s by  a length from 1473 to 2123  the system
will not answer .
Any ideas why?
