PowerPC Data Cache Problem

I'm trying to enable the cache (instruction and data) on PowerPC MPC8260.
I can enable the instruction cache without problems but I'm having problems getting the data cache working. I believe the BATs in the MMU are initialised correctly but as soon as the data cache is enabled, the software seems to stop.

I wondered if anyone had also had problems when trying to enable the data cache and how they managed to fix it?
