Had to rm -rf * inside build-rtems. Guess you always need to do that
before running configure. Now I know.

Thanks for the quick answer. But still don't know what I am doing wrong.
Changed the file rtems-4.8.0/make/custom/csb337.cfg and changed the
CFLAGS_OPTIMIZE_V to first -Os -g (like you suggested) and then to -O0
-g and re-ran configure both times and always see to -O2 -g in each
invocation of gcc during make all.

FWIW I had to do some analysis on the SPARC and found
-Os much easier to read and ~10% smaller executables.
