Downloading "powerpc-rtems4.10 gcc" for a few hours on Fedora 12

This is too little info to be able to help.

The log above only tells that yum doesn't find anything to update.
I.e. yum considers your installation to be "up2date".

What are you trying to do rsp. what do you expect to happen?

I recommend using one of the supported linux distros on real HW (I.e. 
not using a VM).

As Fedora is what OAR and I am using, is what comes with best and most 
advanced tools, Fedora is the best supported, best tested one and likely 
is the easiest to use.
