Redirecting console to serial port

Hi all,

This must be a FAQ, but I cannot find anything using the Google. So
sorry in advance.

I have a program that produces a lot of output very quickly. I am using
QEMU for development. I'm thinking that redirecting the console to a
serial port (emulated by QEMU) would allow me to dump it into a file.

How can I do that?

I'm on i386, if that matters.
