I did not get a chance to look at the PR. However, when we ran
4.9.4 lately, possibly during auto save, we got the error message

There was a talk from SLAC entitled "Auto Save - Additions and Upgrades"
It mentioned about some NFS problems during auto save.
I am not sure if these are all related.
