Including 3rd party library headers?

Hi all,

I'm just starting out with RTEMS and have so far managed to get my build
environment configured, RTEMS built for my target board and an example app
running on hardware.

Is there a suggested way to include header files for third party libraries?
At the moment I've had to resort to using the C_INCLUDE_PATH environment
variable to get GCC to find the appropriate headers when building my
application.
