Phytec MPC5554 not running out of flash?

Last November is the last time I'm sure I ran out of flash. I almost never run out of flash, I specifically get them with 8MB of memory to have the 4MB RAM for development. I happen to be working with a new board so it doesn't have the bootstrap code to boot off NFS or I might not have noticed now. And I guess I should first check with a different board just in case.
The other thing that could cause it is the EBI (external bus interface) setup. Since that must be set up by the debugger to download the code to the RAM even though it's the same code running RAM or flash the preliminary setup could let it work (the reset will reset the EBI).
Given the minor differences (same image running code or flash, just skip MMU setup) I think it must be in the BSP and not general code. I'll try to track it down today.
