Something is broken in this qemu.

It might be worth looking at a later version. The head of the linaro
repo is e571600c4a260d3072abbe7ecf2013e48e82bea7.

I suggest you locate the config file in Ben's version and update it and
see what happens.

Qemu is a complex package and build it from source on a wide number of
hosts is demanding so please be patient. What ever you can try and feed
back to Ben would be most welcome.
