Options in the STM32F4 BSP

I guess this is really a question for Sebastian.

Is there a way to override some of the BSP config options at application build time? Like the ports that UART3 show up on?

Also, a while back the ST HAL layer was included in the build somehow, a library perhaps, how would you go about using it?
