I strongly agree with Ralf about the shared/helenos code. I managed to keep all
of that code self-contained, and offer a short explanation.

The code is licensed under the BSD-variant mentioned by Ralf. We used this
code-base to provide us with boot-up code and routines to interact with the
firmware.  Ultimately, we rely on the HelenOS code for boot and firmware
support for the shared/console driver.  The firmware is also relied on for trap
handlers.

I am not interested in re-writing any of this code, because it works for me and
has been tested in both simulator and on hardware (so far I have only run the
RTEMS sparc64 in simulator).

To give some assistance, in the shared/helenos/boot/genarch and generic
directories are support routines, mostly for interacting with the firmware. 
And the shared/helenos/boot/sparc64/loader is the boot-up code.  The
OpenFirmware is an industry standard, with the Sun OpenBoot firmware being
compliant.
