Your patch looks fine and is should be okay for now.
Checking the interrupt pending from the interrupt controller was one option we
discussed with Daniel H.
However for future Daniel proposed not to rely on the interrupt controller,
because interrupts might be shared. Instead we are discussing to use GPTIMER
interrupt pending bit incl. autodetection.
